Bible Backgrounds is adapted from a series of classroom presentations. It uses a collection of images to present information about many topics related to the cultural, historical, and geographical background of the Bible. International Media Services (IMS) offers scripts, templates, music, and software for translators to produce videos in their language. This resource is helpful for educating and training church leaders, pastors, and translators in biblical culture, history, and geography in preparation for teaching and translating the Scriptures. The Bible Backgrounds resource can be developed in pastors’ workshops and cluster projects and then distributed to other pastors and lay leaders in the communities.
This May Be a Good Tool For Your Community If:
Leaders in the church and for pastors need resources to better understand and communicate the biblical message. It is also helpful for translators who would benefit from a better understanding of the cultural, geographical, and historical background of the Bible as they are working on their translation.

How This Works
The Bible Backgrounds resource can be downloaded directly from the IMS website. Scripts are available in the “topic” folders in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean. Once the scripts are translated, they can be recorded in PhotoStory3, a software slideshow video maker that is available for free on the IMS website. When the recordings have been completed, they can be inserted into templates. These templates are already set up with images and music.
Financial cost: Free
Translation method: Translate the text from the scripts which will then be recorded. The text is not Scripture but is descriptive.
What kind of technical expertise is needed to adapt this resource to your situation?
Knowledge of MS Windows and how to use PhotoStory 3 Software or another slideshow to video software (iMovie, Movie Studio, Photostage, etc.). The templates are for PhotoStory 3.
How much time is required to do all the work required to bring the resource to completion?
Producing all of the videos may take a month.
What sort of logistical setting is needed? (e.g. quiet space for recording, good Internet access)
A Windows Computer and microphone is needed along with PhotoStory3. PhotoStory 3 can be downloaded for free from the IMS website or from Microsoft.
How To Get Started
Locate all software, directions, images, music, scripts and templates on the IMS website.
Distribution can be accomplished through a personal computer or cell phone. Once the product is in video form it can be distributed digitally using a variety of methods common to computer and cell phone data distribution.
