EMDC.guide began through a multi agency partnership with initial seed funding and input from several agencies. In 2023 it was agreed that EMDC.guide would separate out into two sites – EMDC.Guide and EMDC.tools. Today there are multiple elements of intellectual property. The aim is to make material sharable but permissions can only be granted for material by someone (person or organisation) with the right to grant them.
The current EMDC.Guide site is managed by SIL’s International Media Services.

Videos: Created by SIL’s IMS Animation team using Vyond software and remain the property of IMS. Video assets are subject to Vyond’s terms of service https://www.vyond.com/terms/ including “a non-exclusive, royalty-free and perpetual license to use, reproduce, display, perform and distribute the Videos created by Customer for Customer’s own commercial use”. The terms also state “Videos may not be assigned, transferred or used for the benefit of a third party, unless (a) Customer has purchased a “Rights Transfer” license for the Video(s) to be transferred, (b) Customer has subscribed to a Vyond Professional for Agencies plan”
This means that although others may translate the video scripts new videos would need to remain the property of SIL. (useable by partners)
